This is a new page -- watch for developments. They
can change at any time. It sort of ties in with the "Events" page -- which is a recording of events as they happen throughout
the years, ie., 2000, 2001, and then 2002. |

Check out the new happenings with Laurence and Cheryl's
son Ashton. He had an appointment with the medical people again. This time however, it was with a dentist. |

Our son Brian made the news at the beginning of the year with being diagnosed as having Leukemia, and his apparent success
in defeating it. It now looks like Laurence will be the newsmaker again to finish off the year 2002.
In the Dog House again?
My daughter Cheryl and her husband Laurence, and their son Ashton live on the "North Shore" in North Vancouver, while
we live on the South Shore in Richmond. To get from the south shore to the north shore, is like running a gauntlett
of maniac driven cars in the city of Vancouver -- and that is the reason that we do not drive through the gauntlett very often.
Laurence and Cheryl are great people to visit, if it wasn 't for that traffic problem. Fortunately, both Laurence
and I love our computers and what can be done with them, and fortunately we both have that e-mail gadget, with which we can
communicate to each other, if we have nothing better to do.
For some time the e-mail communication from that guy on the north shore was a bit sporadic -- but I didn't say anything,
because he could of had a lot of other things to do, or a lot on his mind. Like everybody he can get a bit side-tracked,
or maybe he really did have something special to do.
There was a period last year, when he kept himself quite busy, and I found out that he was making "Cribbage Boards" in
the shape of U.S. Naval Destroyer battleships. I thought he had gone off his rocker, when he at one time asked me what
I thought of the idea. Well, I hate anything to do with war and big battleships and big guns, and I didn't have the
heart to tell him that he was -- well, maybe going over the deep bend..
His first battleship cribbage board was a bit crude, but you should see his last one -- it was a beauty. He really
does have an amazing talent, and you know -- he was offered $100 a piece.
During this time that he was making his new cribbage boards the communication between him and I, slowed down a bit.
This all happened last year. Well -- you know, the same thing happened this year, and I didn't click in, or
suspect anything until this one day he phoned me (no e-mail), and he asked me if I could be a nice guy for a change, and bring
my digital camera over to his place and take a couple of proof photos of his latest project -- now get this, it was a
"dog house". He never told me even once before, that he was making it -- the big sneak. Anyhow, I told him that
I would drive the gauntlett tomorrow through Vancouver, and bring my camera over. A dog house, I thought to myself,
and I'm wasting my gasoline, driving to get a picture of a dog house. I must be losing it.
When I got to his place, I went in the back way, and noticed this big tarpaulin covering something in the back yard.
I ignored it, and knocked on the door. Laurence came out and took me to the tarpaulin, and lifted it off -- and low
and behold there was the dog house, that was a sight for tired eyes.
It was a beauty. It was real, and I was shocked and surprised at what I saw. Apparently, in early this summer
(2002), his neighbour, who owns and runs a "doggie store" -- asked Laurence if he wouldn't mind building a real live dog house
that he could auction off in his doggie store.
Now, Laurence never built a dog house before, or any other kind of a house, but he took the challenge. Everything
was authentic, even to the shingles on the roof. He even included a little picket fence.
Here's the proof..
